Float, levitate, and let go of everything.
What are the benefits of Sensory Deprivation Therapy?
What is it?
Sensory Deprivation Therapy enables you to cut off all outside stimulation by floating in a body-temperature, Epsom-salt-filled tank. This is probably the closest thing to levitating in zero gravity or floating once again in our mother’s womb. You will experience a peaceful sense of weightlessness, nothingness, deep silence, and illuminating darkness which will enable you to enter a Theta meditative state. Theta brainwaves are spheres of our subconscious and diving into this realm allows us to conjure vivid mental images, inspire our creativity and improve our sleep. Usually, only experienced practitioners of meditation are able to stay in an extended period of Theta brain activity. However, Sensory Deprivation Therapy has made it possible for first-timers and beginners to also get to experience long periods of Theta. Furthermore, floating has been proven to have very positive effects on people suffering from mental disorders such as anxiety, PTSD, and clinical burnout.
The salt found in our pods and pools carries very special qualities, and not only because it will make you levitate. Epsom salt is a magnesium-rich mineral that has been used for centuries to detoxify, improve sleep, reduce muscle pain, cramping and headaches. Moreover, Epsom salt has proven to be exceptionally beneficial to our skin, by helping remove impurities and even treat more serious skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
What should I expect from a session?
We have two types of tanks, a pod with a lid and an open pool. Both can fit up to two people in them. Some people prefer the closable pod as the experience can feel a bit more immersive and others are more drawn to the openness of the pool, you can try both options and see for yourself what variation suits you best. In the case you wanted some extra stimulus, you can feel free to add aromatherapy, underwater light, and music to your session. These add-ons are not necessary to improve the experience but are there for you in case you would like to experiment with different set-ups. If you would like to float alongside someone else, you are more than welcome to bring a friend, family member, or partner for a collective levitation session.
Our sophisticated pods and pools are highly hygienic. They have an automated, self-filtering system and are made of thermo-molded antibacterial acrylic. In addition, our pods are further cleaned by staff after every floating session. The lid of the pod stops and stays in any position you like. If you are claustrophobic, you can leave the top lid as open as you wish without any problem.
What do I need to do before a session?
You don’t really need to bring much to the treatment, we provide towels, robes, and care products. Before a session, hydrate well and visit the restroom if needed.
Also, make sure to rinse your body in the shower to remove any skin products you might have on such as makeup, body lotion, sunscreen, etc. And, you shouldn’t worry about privacy at all, because our pods and pools each have private showers so you can feel even more free and relaxed from beginning to end.
You can enter our pods wearing a bathing suit, although we recommend floating nude since external materials on the body stimulate the senses.
