What are the benefits of Cryotherapy?
What is it?
Cold therapies have been used in many cultures throughout history as a powerful treatment against physical injury. However, there is so much more to these forms of therapy. They are inherently anti-inflammatory and have been shown to benefit recovery from serious auto-immune diseases. Cryotherapy is cold therapy taken to a whole new technological level. It consists of exposing the entire body to extremely cold (-110 Celsius), dry air for up to three minutes in a climate-controlled cryo-chamber.
This form of therapy was initially intended to be used in clinical settings to treat patients with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic inflammation, and multiple sclerosis. Since then, medical-grade, whole-body cryotherapy has been used to treat people of all ages, especially competitive athletes, to boost energy, speed up muscle recovery, inhibit pain signals in the nerves and slow down the growth of inflammatory cells.
Beyond its many medical benefits, cryotherapy has also been proven to have mental health and wellbeing benefits since it can improve sleep and reduce anxiety as it increases our oxygen levels and helps stabilise our heart rates. It also helps our bodies to produce more endorphins, the hormones that make us feel alert and energized, and produce less cortisol, the hormone that makes us feel stressed.
What should I expect from a session?
We have a state-of-the-art double cryo-chamber designed for four-person use. During each session, individuals should wear minimal clothing to maximise skin exposure.
Once the cryo session begins you will first spend 20 seconds in -60 degrees. Your wellbeing guide will then signal you to move to a second chamber where you will spend 2 mins and 40 seconds. You will be observed and supported by your wellbeing guide throughout the entire process and you will be free to exit the chamber at any time if you so wish.
Our chamber allows for complete freedom of movement and offers open views through its heated glass door. We use the most advanced cryotherapy system which cools your entire body including the head, neck, and shoulders. You might feel a weightless, buoyant effect after each session which can typically last between six to eight hours. But, the aftereffect you will most likely feel will be an immediate, immense energy increase.
What do I need to do before a session?
You should remove any jewelry or exterior body piercings below the neck. Also, you should not apply any oils, lotions, or cologne prior to the treatment.
We will provide you with a robe, socks, slippers, and gloves to protect your extremities during the treatment. Men are required to wear their own underwear or shorts. Women are recommended to come in bathing suits or bikinis.
How long is each session?
Only 3 small mins. You can literally come to our studio for a session and be in and out of the door within 10 minutes. This is the perfect lunch-break, in-between-meetings type of therapy.
What do I need to know before a session
Please note should you suffer from the following health conditions we won’t be able to accommodate you in our cryo chamber: If you’re pregnant, have a pacemaker or have a history of heart attack, stroke, hypertension, cancer or lung disease. We have other science backed treatments instead for you.
How often do you recommend doing it?
For those looking to use cryotherapy mainly for athletic purposes, we recommend doing a session either pre-workout for an energy boost or post-workout for muscle recovery. For others looking to use it as a treatment for skin conditions or specific corporal pain like arthritis, you are welcome to do cryotherapy whenever you are experiencing discomfort or pain due to your condition or as often as you find necessary as a preventive measure.
Cellular regeneration, pain relieve and musle recovery.
All cryotherapy sessions are bookable for 25 / 50 / 75 min.
